Danger on the High Nets!

Piracy. The scourge to the creator, the distributor, to the world of art itself!

Or so the various advertisements would like you to believe. This anti-filesharing movement started early, with the first lawsuit, against a now far less popular Napster. The Logic goes as such: An Artist Creates, people pay for it, the artist and company distributing the artist's work both make money. Capitalism Triumphs.

But, if people are sharing the artist's work, and noone is making money... then the commies win... and who really wants that?

But are people really so determined to steal all of their creative entertainment? Let's be honest, sure, you can download a crappy quality cam of a movie, but the free substitute is like tofu when you want a steak- it can't beat the experience of going to the movies and seeing it on a massive screen with surround sound. Listening to a low-quality recording of a live concert is nothing compared to going, paying, and seeing one live.

The Internet Piracy issue is paranoia, the same of which could be seen when Radio was going to ruin the live music industry, or Television was going to ruin film. So far, they still seem to be fine, and have adapted to fit into the new medium. It seems like they might have some adapting to do in this case as well.
